WELD X Wrong Way River Lodge & Cabins

We caught up with Co-Owner Shelton from Wrong Way about their "outdoor cabin hotel" concept in Asheville, NC and why WELD matched the vibe for their latest merch drop.

How did your idea for Wrong Way come to be, and how’d you name it?

Well, it’s a weird name so let’s get that out of the way. Wrong Way is named after the French Broad River that flows through Asheville, NC. “Wrong Way” comes from the fact that the French Broad is one of the few rivers that flows from South to North, but it also reflects our unconventional approach to traditional concepts and our desire to blaze new trails. Just like Asheville, we’ve got a bit of a counterculture vibe.

Explain the cabins "Scappalachian" design aesthetic?

We combined Scandinavian minimalism with Appalachian warmth to create our very own “Scappalachian” design. It captures the clean lines of Scandinavian design as well as the inviting Appalachian cabin decor. Think record players, books, board games, all tucked underneath the sharp lines of an 18 ft. A-frame ceiling!

What kind of things does the outdoor space offer during a stay?

Our goal is to get our guests outside! On the property, we offer nightly campfires, hammocks, and pairs of porch chairs. The French Broad river and the greenway are just across the street, offering paddleboarding, tubing, running and cycling. We're right in the heart of what we call the "urban outdoors."

Why WELD for your newest line of merch hats?

Truthfully, the Camo hat was a must-have! We're leaning into WELD to create unique hat and sweatshirt designs that align with the Wrong Way brand!
